Climate change. Global warming. Yes, these concepts are real. And yes, you have the power to change it! Every year, Earth continues to heat up, with the global temperature rising. Warmer oceans, shrinking ice sheets, and rising sea levels are just some of the effects. By replacing small things you do on a day to day basis with more environmentally friendly options, you can help take care of our planet. We only have one, so let's take care of it!
You know when you paint something you think is amazing, something that would put renowned artists like Van Gough to shame? However, a year later you realize it's not exactly as good as you thought it was? Trust me, we’ve all been there! One way you can be more sustainable artistically is by reusing those old canvases. Just paint your new masterpiece over it! Another way you can live more sustainably through art is by reusing tape! Many artists like to use masking tape to create borders around their art, but end up throwing it away after one use! Next time, try using that tape a couple more times, trust me it still has some use left!
A more environmentally friendly lifestyle could also mean buying second hand, or thrifting! Major corporations that you may know as your favorite shops at the mall are contributing to the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, the fashion industry itself has a carbon footprint that is responsible for 10% of annual global carbon emissions. By buying used clothing you’re able to reuse clothes, giving them a new home! However this doesn’t just pertain to clothes! You can buy art supplies, musical instruments, and so much more! Although buying second hand is sustainable, it does have many ethics surrounding it! This week's episode of our own podcast, Artiscape, dives a little deeper into that, so make sure to check it out!
By incorporating these more sustainable options, you can help reduce your own carbon footprint!
Nice post! Taking sustainable steps is the way to make earth a better place😊👍
