BIOGRAPHY

Marina Chisty is a Russian-American artist who currently lives and works in NYC. Her abstract and figurative paintings embody the dynamism and multiple faces of the city, trying to grasp their distinctive differences and substantial equality as human beings. Chisty's work also delves into the themes of time and impermanence, capturing the fleeting moments and ever-changing nature of urban life.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am drawn to moments of transition—the space between motion and stillness, permanence and impermanence, creation and decay. This is where life happens, in the in-between. My paintings explore this tension by layering pigments to create surfaces that appear static but hold traces of motion and change. Some layers are visible; others are concealed, evoking the idea that what is hidden is not erased but continues to influence the present.
