What do you aim to say by the themes in your work?
I like to believe human mind is very much like the changing seasons and I have tried to reflect that in these paintings. The viewer is invited to look at them and experience the connection with their own personal understanding and emotions.
Where does your inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes mainly from my emotional reaction to various issues and events and
the beliefs I hold very dear.
How would you describe your creative process?
My creative process generally starts with a broad idea, thought or emotion. The choice of
colors play a very important role in creating the mood for the painting. Normally I tend to choose a limited color palette to keep the idea undiluted. For this collection, I preferred using a palette knife to create the raw, unfinished look reflecting my life that continues to evolve and change. I am an intuitive painter and prefer not to have a detailed plan for my artwork unless the subject of my painting requires it.
What is integral to your work as an artist?
I think colors is the most integral part of my work as an artist. It is the language I use to
convey my idea or thought.
Do you have any experiences that have impacted your art?
I am a self-taught artist. I have gained experience through years of painting and learning
techniques that work with my style of painting. Being very sensitive and empathic, I yearn for the quiet time and it impacts my artwork. Most of my landscapes are peopleless landscapes for that very reason.
What advice do you have for aspiring artists?
My advice to aspiring artists would be – Always stay true to yourself. Be kind to yourself
and give yourself time to nurture your art which will then truly reflect you as an artist and human being.
