Ayla Gregoire

Ayla Gregoire is an independent artist, writer, and animator. She is heavily influenced by nature, travel, and sustainability. Entering the public school system at age ten after spending years on a nature preserve in the mountains of Oregon gave her the perspective and inspiration to make art focused on themes of equality, positivity, and diversity. She loves posting her comics and animations to view for free online. After graduating from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2018, she has been kickstarting her own production company. At first with two partners from school, and now independently. After school she worked on a feature film, Jungleland (2019), as a Production Assistant, and has since been working on personal projects.

What do you aim to say by the themes in your work?
I hope to influence others to love the Earth, others, and themselves!
Where does your inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from the experiences I have had, places I have been, and people I have met.
How would you describe your creative process?
My creative process involves collecting ideas, colors, photos, writing, trash, and more from my everyday life. I stock-pile until I have time to reorder and recreate a new or old meaning from the scraps.
What is integral to your work as an artist?
Nature, diversity, and vibrant colors are integral in my work.
Do you have any experiences that have impacted your art?
My art and life have been heavily influenced by growing up traveling from coast to coast, living on a nature sanctuary with my mom and sister, and finally going to fourth grade in public school. The intense difference in these lifestyles gave me an outside perspective on society as a whole.
What advice do you have for aspiring artists?
My only advice to others in art and life is try be yourself and be kind. Everyone has bad days.
