Dimelza is a Cuban-American artist residing in Jacksonville, Florida. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of North Florida and a Master's degree from the University of Georgia. Broche has exhibited her work at Manifest Gallery, Marcia Wood Gallery, Era Contemporary Gallery, The Cummer Museum of Arts & Gardens, the S. Dillon Ripley Center, Washington, DC. And most recently at MOCA in Jacksonville, FL. In 2011 I was the Grand Prize recipient of Momentum: a National Juried Exhibit for Emerging Artists with Disabilities, and a recipient of The Willson Center Graduate Research Award in 2019.

What do you aim to say by the themes in your art?
I aim for the viewer to go beyond the beautiful atmosphere and question what is it that makes them feel unsettled.
Where does your inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from a combination of things such as my experience as a disabled woman, my love for movies, the natural world, and the human body with all its intricacies.
Do you have experiences that impacted your art?
My experience as a disabled woman has definitely impacted my art and the way I make art. I question the functionality of our bodies, and the limits of my own body. As a wheelchair user I am limited to a lot of things. Making art allows me to access and create places I am physically not able to visit.
What are your long-term artistic goals?
My long term artistic goals are to continue making art for shows, to be able to participate in more artist residencies, and to continue my work as an art educator.
What are your long-term artistic goals?
In addition to painting, I do tapestry. My goal is to combine painting and tapestry and turn them into one. And in the future I will reveal all of the above. Creativity is like space and the topic for creativity in the future may be different.

Be always in search and work!
